Clarendon Academy said ‘bien cocido’ to a pupil who got an A* in GCSE Spanish after sitting the exams two years early.
Year 9 student Anthony Sinobas, 13, was put forward for the qualification because he was showing great promise in the subject.
Anthony said: “I was really pleased. My family, teachers and friends have all been very supportive. My brothers, Humberto and Javier live in Spain, so learning the language comes in useful when we go over and visit them.”
Anthony has just started GCSE French and he hopes being multi-lingual will be an advantage in helping him get a career in medicine when he is older.
Teacher Marie Massè said: “He’s a talented young man who performs well in all his subjects and when he got his results he came to see me straight away.
“He leads by example and we are very proud of him.”
