Westbury Leigh market under threat
A market held at Westbury Leigh Community Hall on the first Wednesday of each month is in danger of closing due to a lack of customers.
The market takes place from 10am-12pm and includes a variety of goods ranging from fruit and vegetables to homemade cupcakes, handmade cards and bric-a-brac.
The stall holders donate part of their takings towards the upkeep of the hall, which in turn helps to enable the hall to offer very reasonable hire charges. The next market will take place on October 2.
Beryl Drake, committee member for the community hall, said: “The stall holders give up their time and effort each month and it is quite demoralising for them after unpacking and setting out their wares, to have to repack most of it and return home.
“With Christmas coming up, it would be fantastic to see some more people and the W.I ladies will make you an excellent cup of tea or coffee. It really is a case of use it or lose it.”
