ASDA supermarkets are taking delivery of unique bins made from waste materials from their own stores, to collect used batteries which are then sent for recycling.

Old coat hangers and other discarded plastics from ASDA are sent to Frome-based firm Protomax, founded by Trowbridge businessman Nick Stillwell who lives in Wingfield. Protomax turns the waste into usable products. Twenty ASDA stores are so far using the newly branded bins shaped like a battery with a plan to roll them out in other stores across the UK.

This latest Protomax venture expands its association with ASDA, having previously made table tops and payment reception desks from recycled waste for the supermarket giant.
