Corsham optician Christine Clancy has success in her sights after being named her company’s best advisor in only her second year of work.

Independent Wiltshire opticians Haine and Smith awarded the ‘top optical advisor of the year’ award to Mrs Clancy, who joined the Corsham High Street branch in March 2012.

She said: “It was lovely to find out I’d won. I wasn’t full-time when I started here, only doing two days a week, then I’ve been full-time since June.

“It’s been really fun, it’s a great place to work.”

The annual award is given in memory of Rupert Smith, the son of company founder and senior partner Barry Smith, who was training as an optical advisor when he died in an accident 12 years ago. The company was founded 39 years ago and has 19 practices across Wiltshire and the surrounding counties.

The award was presented by general manager Gary Walters. He said: “In the relatively short time Christine has been at our Corsham practice she has quickly absorbed the qualities needed to be an exceptional optical adviser.

“She is caring, friendly and easy to work alongside. She has a very good understanding of all the aspects needed to be efficient at her job whilst her warm personality helps to put our patients at ease.”
