Learners who completed a 12-week Prince’s Trust Team course with The Learning Curve in Trowbridge were recognised in an awards presentation at the Civic Centre last Wednesday.
The learners took part in a number of activities – a residential outdoor challenge week and a community project during which they fundraised and built a sensory garden at Larkrise School; gave learning support to people with learning difficulties at Home Farm Trust; took part in CV and interview coaching; and gained new qualifications in first aid at work and food hygiene.
The course, which is aimed at people aged 16 to 25, is supported by The Learning Curve for people not currently in education to get qualifications and help them find jobs.
Trowbridge mayor David Halik presented the awards. He said doing the course showed their “dedication, commitment and trust in each other” and that as some had already found jobs it showed the success of the programme.
Of the 11 who completed the course, five have found jobs, one has a new contract in the pipeline, two have interviews, one is about to start volunteering and two are doing further training.
Craig Enderby, team leader for the Prince’s Trust, said: “Every one of them now has clear goals, confidence and motivation.”
