5:00pm Friday 9th May 2014 in News
Wiltshire is gearing up to vote in the 2014 European Elections this month.
The county is included in the giant South West constituency, which covers Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire and Gibraltar.
On May 22 Wiltshire residents can choose from eight parties: Conservative, Labour, Lib Dems, UKIP, Green Party, BNP, An Independence from Europe and English Democrats.
Each party has listed six candidates and of the 48 hopefuls, six will be elected to represent the South West.
Wiltshire Council is expecting a turnout of between 40 and 45 per cent and will verify papers from 9am on Friday, May 23.
The count will be held at Christie Miller Leisure Centre in Melksham on Sunday, May 25 and will start at 2pm, but cannot be declared until the last European country has voted – Italy, at 10pm.
