Villagers came out in force to support the annual scarecrow trail organised by The Friends of North Bradley School at the weekend with this year’s theme heroes and villains.
The trail included 43 scarecrows made by children, parents and friends of the school, while residents in the village also got involved by either making a scarecrow or donating the use of their garden.
It started and finished at the school and the scarecrows included everything from American vampire-superhero Blade to the puppet from the Saw movies and the Gruffalo.
In additional to the trail, the event included a prize draw, with prizes donated by Nutricia, while there was also a bar, bouncy castle and fun sideshow games.
Wendy Wood, who organised the event with co-chair of the Friends Jackie Stocker, said: “We did well considering the weather. It was very wet on the Saturday, but we still had people turning up.
“We were even busier on the Sunday when the weather was better and we had people coming from all over the county. We managed to raise just over £2,000 without including costs, which is better than we could have hoped for.
“There was more engagement with the village than ever before this year and the feedback we have had has been brilliant. The money will go towards projects at the school and supporting the children.”
