SUPERSTAR swimmer Jazz Carlin led the charge of Olympic heroes boarding the victory bus for parades in Manchester and London this week.

An hour-long city centre procession of floats saw hundreds of Team GB’s sporting heroes and 200,000 spectators come together in Manchester on Monday to celebrate the summer of success Swindon swimmer Jazz who trains at Bath University and swam with the Tigersharks swimming club in Swindon was wearing a waterproof poncho as she waved to the crowds..

The 26-year-old wowed the crowds in August when she scooped two silver medals in the 400m and 800m freestyle events Jazz, who is also thought to have attended the London parade, tweeted: “Such an incredible day in Manchester today. I can’t believe how many people came out to see us!”

After Rio Jazz, who now lives in Bradford on Avon, said she couldn’t believe she had finally achieved her dreams.

“When I touched the wall, to see I had the silver medal, it was just shock that I had done it. After all the years of training, I have managed to achieve my dreams,” she said.

Wheelchair tennis ace and double Paralympian Louise Hunt from Wanborough was also spotted aboard the Paralympics train as the parade headed for Trafalgar Square.

She tweeted: “Thank you Manchester for a great parade.”

Team GB set a new Olympic record in Rio, coming home with 67 medals, two more than in London. The Paralympic squad also experienced a gold rush with 127 medals won, 27 more than four years ago.

Prime Minister Theresa May joined the celebrations as she personally thanked members of Team GB and Paralympics GB for making the country a sporting “superpower” and “inspiring generations” to follow in their footsteps.

Athletes took to the stage in Albert Square before live performances by Rebecca Ferguson and the Kaiser Chiefs.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, joined by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry hosted the London celebration.

More than 200,000 people gathered in Trafalgar Square to welcome the heroes, who were due to met the Queen a at a special reception in Buckingham Palace tonight.
