WORTON & Cheverell remain rooted to the foot of Division Three following their 4-1 defeat at home to fifth-placed Pig & Whistle United.

However, despite it being their sixth loss in seven matches, Worton still have six matches remaining in which to climb out of the drop zone.

Two brilliantly-taken goals from Sean Meer put Pig & Whistle two up, before Jake Flower reduced the arrears for Worton in the first half.

Rob O’Harrow restored Worton’s two-goal cushion with a superb header from Graham Griffith’s pin point cross and it was left to super sub Ashley Fletcher to put the game out of reach of Worton when he made it 4-1.

North Star B 3 Crossblades FC 0

NORTH Star B may have beaten opponents Crossblades FC 3-0 but had it not been for an inspired performance from the Blades keeper Ben McGoven the margin of defeat would have been even greater.

McGoven had a night to remember between the sticks as he produced save after save to keep his team in the game before and after he was eventually beaten by Mickey Taraskevics who gave Star a half-time lead.

North Star got a killer second goal and again it was Taraskevics who found the net before Adam Walsh killed of the Blades with the third goal of the night.

Old Road FC 3 Trowbridge Town Supporters Club 3

TROWBRIDGE  Town Supporters Club were looking to end a six-match winless run at Old Road FC, but despite their best efforts as they overturned a 3-1 deficit they were unable to find a winner and had to settle for a share of the spoils as the teams fought out a 3-3 draw.

Dean Coles saw his first-half opener for the supporters’ club cancelled out by Jamie Smith. The second half saw James House give Old Road the lead and when House scored his second of the night to give them a two-goal advantage the points looked as if they would be staying in Chippenham.

Dave Strickland began the supporters’ club revival and Corey Overend was on hand get Kevin Williams side back on level terms before Old Road had Jake O’Keeffe sent off and House was denied a hat-trick by the lack of goal-line technology.

However come the final whistle a draw was probably a fair result.
