FOOTBALL: Collington is new United boss

Wiltshire Times: Adam Collington is Westbury United's new manager Adam Collington is Westbury United's new manager

ADAM Collington is looking forward to getting his teeth back into management after agreeing to become Westbury United’s new boss.

The 34-year-old, who spent the 2012-2013 season in charge of Warminster Town, replaces Matt Bown, who stepped down at Meadow Lane chief earlier this month, and will be assisted by veteran player Steve Seals and former Warminster assistant Chris Taylor.

Collington, who moved to Westbury earlier this year, has had brief involvements at Frome Town and Radstock Town since leaving Warminster in April 2013 and is targeting long-term success with Westbury in the Toolstation League First Division.

“I had to quit at Warminster because of work commitments but I’ve missed being a manager and now that I’m settled, I wanted to get back into it,” said the new United manager, who works as a fitness manager at Frome Sports Centre.

“I think that Westbury thought I could do well with the players that I want to bring in and the fact that I’ve got experienced people like Steve Seals and Chris Taylor working with me.

“They’ve asked me to try and improve on what they’ve been doing and I just want lads to enjoy their football. I think that we could be good enough to finish in the top half of the table and I want it to be a long-term thing.”

Departing Westbury manager Bown has joined Larkhall Athletic as a coach.

Westbury will be beginning pre-season training on June 17 and anyone interested in joining United can contact Collington on 07900 817519.
