DEVIZES’ Bernie Ryan claimed victory in the Trowbridge Seniors match at Ellis Lake last Tuesday.

Ryan’s haul of 68 lb of carp left him clear of Pete Thomas, from Bristol, with 50 lb of carp, followed by John Blackmore, from Lavington, with 38 lb 12 oz.

Other placings: 4. Roger Green Trowbridge 30 lb 4 oz; 5. Paul Brown Devizes & Ken Gingell Trowbridge 25 lb 8 oz.

LAST Thursday’s Wilts Angling evening match fished at Leech Pool was won by Ian Willetts, from Bradford, with 98 lb 12 oz of carp.

Tony Gilbert, from Melksham, was runner up with 60 lb 2 oz of carp, while Ben Ludwell, from Rood Ashton, was third with 53 lb 4 oz of carp.

Other placings: 4. Bill Gilbert Melksham 26 lb 4 oz; 5. Dan West Trowbridge 16 lb 9 oz.

THERE were reasonable catches taken in the Airsprung Evening match fished last Friday on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Airsprung as Lee Ross, from Trowbridge, carried off top prize with 8 lb 6 oz of roach and skimmers Richard Whitmarsh from Frome kept up his good start to the season with 4 lb 5 oz of roach and skimmers for runners up spot.

Alan Hiller from Westbury was third with 3 lb 10 oz of roach and skimmers.

Other placings: 4. Vic Abbott Bradford 2 lb 15 oz; 5. Dave Morrison Trowbridge 1 lb 6 oz.

SUNDAY’S Airsprung match at Leech Pool was won by Mark Poppleton, from Trowbridge, with 141 lb 2 oz of carp.

Whitmarsh again made the frame in runner up spot with 79 lb 8 oz of carp, with Steve Mustiano, from Trowbridge, third with 76 lb 6 oz of carp.

Other placings: 4. Dave Wareham Trowbridge 56 lb 8 oz; 5. Nick Ince Trowbridge 56 lb 2 oz; 6. Brian Neale Westbury 36 lb.
