WILTSHIRE were on the brink of wrapping up victory in their opening Unicorns Championship Western Division match of the season after a dominant second day against Oxfordshire at Banbury today.

Mike Coles' men, who have yet to taste defeat in either form of the game this summer, were within 14 runs of victory over the hosts, who were dismissed in under a day for the second time in the match.

Wiltshire, who host Norfolk in the quarter finals of the Unicorns Knockout Trophy at Corsham CC on Sunday, began day two of thre three-day encounter on 154-2 having dismissed Oxfordshire for 228 in their first innings.

Opener Jayden Levitt restarted his innings on 80 and he and number four Joe Breet added another 47 before Breet was dismissed for 34.

Potterne's Neil Clark came in and put on 71 with Levitt before departing for 41, heralding a 72-run partnership between Coles and Levitt before the skipper was dismissed for 55.

Levitt finally departed for 152 off 199 balls, which included 15 fours and two sixes, with Wiltshire eventually being dismissed for 377 in the 88th over.

Luke Ryan took 4-78 for the home side, Michael Beard taking 3-40.

Trailing by 149 runs, wickets fell steadily in Oxfordshire's second innings, Beard scoring 55, but the final five batsmen falling for 47 runs as Jake Roberts (3-38) and Ashur Morrison (3-24).

Needing just 28 to wrap up victory, Wiltshire wicketkeeper-opener Adam Miles smashed three fours in the one over before stumps t leave his side on the verge of victory. The match restarts tomorrow morning (11am).
