FOOTBALL ROUND-UP: Devizes hit the goal trail in Senior Cup

DEVIZES Town booked their place in the second round of the Wiltshire Senior Cup by thrashing Sydenhams League Amesbury Town last weekend.

Mark Barnes and Neil Clark both netted hat-tricks, whilst Luke Enderby was also on target as Devizes recorded a thumping 7-1 triumph at Nursteed Road.

Meanwhile, Melksham Town won 1-0 at local rivals Westbury United, with Will Stead grabbing the only goal of the game.

Chippenham Park are also into the next round after they won 3-0 at Wiltshire League outfit Marlborough Town.

Aaron Tinson, Lee Himsworth and Garry Lock got the goals for Dave Ferris' men.

But Calne Town are out of the competition after Marcus Lovesey's early goal wasn't enough to prevent a 2-1 defeat to Hellenic League Purton.

There was also misery for Malmesbury Victoria as they were booted out of the cup in a crushing 8-0 defeat at local rivals Highworth Town.

In the Toolstation League First Division, Corsham Town were unable to build on their victories at Cribbs and Cheddar as they lost 2-0 at Ashton & Backwell United.

Meanwhile, Pewsey Vale notched up their fourth victory in five games as they pulled off a major upset in the Sydenhams League Division One.

Jack Hopper, Joe Broadbank, Ricky Franklin and Tom Ritchie were all on target as Lewis Taylor's men thrashed top-of-the-table Andover Town 4-1 at Ball Road.
