THE Olive Tree in Frome are starting a season of Music Mondays this week with Richard Kennedy, one of the region's best acoustic singer/guitarists.

Music Mondays aim to offer some kind of musical event every Monday, with live acts already booked until June to include Griff Daniels, Tessa Bickers and Appalachian/country experts the Loose String Band.

Landlord Nigel says: "Other ideas are a blues night or other special music genres, themed DJ nights and maybe music/pop quiz nights, but where possible a music-related event every Monday."

NEW Trowbridge band Casino Drive are playing a showcase gig to industry representatives on the night of 23 February at The Fiddlers Club, Bristol.

IF the late 70s and early 80s were your musical era, then did you know that The Jamm, the UK's No 1 and most authentic tribute to The Jam, will be appearing at Melksham Assembly Hall on March 7?

Now is the opportunity to experience the closest you will ever get to the original act, as sadly it is highly unlikely that Messrs Weller, Foxton and Buckler will ever reform The Jam.

John Southorn of Stars In Your Eyes fame portrays Paul Weller and there is no doubting the uncanny Weller sound and lookalike. No 1 hits such as Town Called Malice, Start and Going Underground will all be featured in the show. Tickets are now sale and can be obtained from Melksham Assembly Hall, Melksham Tourist Information Centre and from Mark's Musical Instruments on Bath Road at £10 (in advance) and £12 (on the door), or call(01225) 704511.
