Man held over betting shop raid
A BETTING shop manager was allegedly threatened with a baseball bat during an attempted robbery at his store in Westbury.
The incident occurred at Westbury Racing betting shop in Maristow Street on Wednesday March 19.
The manager, who did not want to be named, said: "I was in a real state of shock when the police came after the incident.
"I injured my back and chest from where the intruder pushed me into the door.
"It's one of those things you don't expect to happen to you. We're now going to get CCTV in the shop."
A 41-year-old Warminster man has been charged with attempted robbery after attending a police station voluntarily.
He is due to appear at Chippenham magistrates' court on Thursday April 10.
