Fun, friendly and flexible
If you've been looking for a job that offers a wide range of working hours that can fit into your lifestyle and family, a relaxed working atmosphere and colleagues that are as much fun as you are, then Virgin Mobile is well worth a look....
Virgin Mobile prides itself on offering a working environment that its people really want to be a part of and since the beginning, nine years ago, hasn't stopped evolving and trying to improve the service it offers customers.
On top of that, they're committed to supporting the people who work for them too. That means helping find the right working hours to suit your lifestyle, creating a workplace that you enjoy being in and, what's more, developing your skills along the way.
The company itself might be pretty new, but you'll find that Virgin Mobile attracts all kinds of people. What do they have in common, though? Well, they're fun, friendly and... well, unique!
If you've got a passion for giving good customer service and are a real people person then it will be right up your street.
Chris Munson, 53, has been with Virgin Mobile since the beginning in 1999, and has taken on several different roles since joining. Now post room and facilities co-ordinator, he's also responsible for carrying out health and safety assessments.
"The training I've received at Virgin Mobile has played a big part in making my career a success. There's a friendly culture, it's laid-back but professional and gives me a good balance between my work and home life. Each of my roles here has suited my lifestyle at the time," he said.
Lifestyle, family and transport play a big part in the type of job you're able to do, and the range of shifts available at Virgin Mobile mean that you don't have to try and juggle a job that has regular' hours. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year, Virgin Mobile has a wide range of shift patterns.
Team manager Rachel Froud, 28, is expecting her first baby. Back in 2000, Rachel started as a part-time evening customer service advisor while studying at university. After graduating, she was offered a full-time role in the finance department and took the opportunity to pay off her student loan. Not long after she was offered a place on the development team manager programme and was quickly promoted. "I'm not worried about coming back to work after my maternity leave" says Rachel, "because I know that the flexibility of working at Virgin Mobile can fit in with my new lifestyle."
Virgin Mobile's Customer Centre is based in Trowbridge. Although it's a big team (around 1,400 people), their aim is to create a friendly, personal atmosphere.
So, instead of endless rows of desks, you'll find work spaces are split up into nicer, smaller teams of just 10 or 12 people. It's even kitted out with sofa-filled chill-out rooms, games rooms and TVs, so you can relax and catch up with the world outside while you're on your break.
