All too soon the half term arrived again and Trowbridge Town Council’s fun day programme swung into action at The Grove School in Trowbridge.
From May 25 to May 27, a programme packed with fun things to do and entertainment relieved many Trowbridge residents of the stress of finding childcare for their children aged between 4-11 for three full days.
Staffed by the Trowbridge Town Council’s Sports Development Team, a safe environment was guaranteed.
Starting at 8.30am with check-in and finishing at 5.30pm, the children took part in activities such as the inflatable assault course, bouncy castle, circus skills, magic show, arts and crafts, face painting, storytime and a puppet show, tri-golf, ultimate frisbee and football.
There were also demonstrations and introductions from ‘the chicken lady’, introducing children to poultry and answering their sometimes amusing questions.
A boxing demonstration was also given by Chris Dunn from Trowbridge Boxing Academy.
Over the three days more than 500 children attended, with many smiling faces at home time.
Feedback forms proved extremely useful with comments such as ‘fantastic idea, great for working mums for children to be in a safe environment, having fun and at a reasonable cost!’, ‘felt really comfortable leaving my son, all staff were friendly and approachable!’.
The fun days were promoted by leaflet, through Trowbridge schools, libraries, events and the town’s Tourist Information Board.
After such positive feedback, plans are afoot for the summer holidays with information and a booking form available on the Trowbridge Town Council website, www.trowbridge.gov.uk, as soon as details are finalised.
The three fun days were totally funded, including all staffing, by the children’s attendance fees, with many comments from parents of good value for money.
