Gig Guide
The Knott
The Knott was born in Swindon in 2005 when bassist Matt Keeble joined Lee Knott (vocals) and Andy Dickinson (guitars). The band had a slow start when Andy went to war with the RAF, but when he returned they set about finding a new drummer.
Matt called his old friend Roy Baker who he had played with in a few bands, and invited him to come along to the rehearsal studio for a jam. Roy joined up straight away and rehearsals and writing sessions began in earnest. Lee and Matt set about arranging gigs around Swindon and during the first half of 2007, The Knott played at some of the best venues around the town including 12 Bar, The Vic, Riffs Bar and Winners Lounge.
Bassist Matt Keeble said: "We also played Sugarhill Festival, which was fantastic; The Anglesey Bike Show, which was hairy and venues in and around London and Manchester, which have meant lots of driving!
"Our music is basically guitar driven pop with a large dollop of rock and a smattering of punk. We all come from different musical backgrounds and bring different influences to the band. Bands that have influenced us along the way include Nirvana, Soundgarden, Free, Rolling Stones, Stone Roses, Muse, Foo Fighters but it could be anything that grabs us."
The Knott are currently planning to record their first album and Matt came up with a brainwave to raise funds for the EP.
Fans can donate money to the album fund on www.theknott.co.uk in exchange for a producers' credit.
Matt explains: "Anyone can donate anything they like to the album fund and their name will be added to the list of producers on the CD. Plus, if someone donates £5 or more, we'll send them a copy of the CD once it's pressed. So they'll get their name on the CD and the finished product at a much lower price than we'll be selling it for. The album fund has had a few donations already and we're really pleased with and grateful for the response so far.
"But we need more donations we're hoping to get enough names to fill the inlay card!"
The Knott are now on the look-out for management and booking shows for 2008.
