Tom Hanks and Mark Rylance are seen in the first official image released from Steven Spielberg’s Cold War drama.
Formerly known as St James Place, the Oscar-winning filmmaker’s thriller about the 1960 U-2 incident, has now been given the title Bridge Of Spies.
Tom – who is reunited with the filmmaker for the fourth time – plays lawyer James Donovan, who finds himself thrust into the centre of the Cold War when he is given a mission to negotiate the release of captured U-2 pilot Francis Gary Powers, whose plane was shot down in the Soviet Union.
Mark, who stars alongside Sean Penn and Ray Winstone in Pierre Morel’s action thriller The Gunman, portrays Soviet intelligence officer Rudolf Abel, with Billy Magnusson as Douglas Forrester in the film.
Scott Shepherd, Amy Ryan, Sebastian Koch and Alan Alda also have supporting roles in the film, which is based on real life events.
Oscar-nominated composer Thomas Newman, who has worked on The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Saving Mr Banks, will take over from John Williams to score the film, following “minor” health issues.
Bridge Of Spies, which has been written by Ethan and Joel Coen and Matt Charman, is set for release in October 2015.
