Songstress Vicky Bolley is headed to the West End of London in the leading role of a new musical with a magical theme.

Vicky, 25, better known in her home town Devizes by her maiden name, Vicky Morris, is appearing in Alchemy, written by Clive Nolan, who also plays the male lead opposite her.

The musical has already been performed at the Cheltenham Playhouse, in Holland and the cast flew to Poland earlier this year to record the numbers from the show.

Now it is to be performed at the Jermyn Street Theatre in London’s West End from August 12-16.

Vicky, who now lives in Melksham and has a young daughter, said: “The theatre is only small, smaller than The Wharf I’d say, but that matters not to me. This little lady is going to sing in London!”

Vicky was a popular draw at various venues in the area when she was a teenager and her shows raised thousands of pounds for charity. She regularly performs in pubs, clubs, at weddings, parties and social events.

She is hoping the West End appearance will launch her onto a different level. She said: “The run is very short as well, but we hope it will attract managements to come and see it and hopefully take it further.”

As part of the fundraising effort for the project, Vicky is performing some of the songs from the show at the Conservative Club in Long Street, Devizes, on Saturday, May 10 at 8.30pm. Tickets, £10, are on sale at the club.
