Works by Aldbourne-based ceramics artist Fenella Elms have been chosen by P&O Cruises to be part of Britain’s largest floating art collection on its ship Britannia, which launches in March next year.

Fenella has produced porcelain wall pieces for the Oasis Spa and Indian restaurant Sindhu – some of the 8,000 pieces of art to be displayed on Britannia showcasing a diverse range of styles and disciplines.

Fenella, who is known for the intricacy and painstaking detail of her flowing designs, said: “I am making two large works of porcelain, Edges for Sindhu, which comprise very fine ribbons of mainly porcelain clay delicately aligned and joined to create intricate structures. These are then over-stitched on to stretched linen and framed for hanging on the wall.

“For the Oasis Spa, I have created a series of 12 porcelain Flows, where individually-made beads of clay are joined to a sheet of porcelain before the work is fired together to make one single piece. These are textured works of graded colours to be mounted on the wall.”
