Warminster Festival 2014 shifts into high gear this coming week.

Today (Friday) The Games Challenge Day will see youngsters of all ages demonstrate their prowess at the games Wii Sports and Guitar Hero at the Civic Centre.

Call my Bluff is at the Athenaeum on Saturday afternoon, followed by the carnival procession.

On Sunday the Civic Centre hosts a Jazz Bistro mid-morning, when patrons can enjoy jazz from Keith Harrison-Broninski’s house band, featuring celebrated saxophonist Sam Crockett, a regular at Ronnie Scott’s in London.

At 4pm at the chapel of St Lawrence, Baroque Beginnings features lutenist Din Ghani and soloist Jane Hunt, who trace the progress of Baroque music from Italy to England, starting with early pioneers such as Peri, Caccini and Monteverdi, and explore its influence on English composers such as Johnson, Lanier and Purcell.

Pianist Plamen Tsvetanov moves instruments to give a small recital on the St Lawrence Chapel organ on Monday, while on Tuesday Larry Bohana MA gives an illustrated talk on the role of women during the First World War.

On Friday, October 30 author Richard Yerburgh gives a talk at the library about his books set in rural Wiltshire.
