Corsham theatregoers are among only a few in the country to see the first stage adaptation of the magical Neil Gaiman story.

In long ago England, amidst tranquil fields and meadows, stands the tiny Hamlet of Wall. On the edge of the town, guarded around the clock, a stone wall separates the quiet town from the magical land of Faerie. A young man has lost his heart and mind to the hauntingly beautiful Victoria Forester. And then, in the dead of night, a shooting star falls and breaches the wall of his love, sending him on the adventure of a lifetime. In the luminescent glow of this star he will battle witches, sorcery, and fate, before finding his heart’s true desire.

Stardust was made into a film starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Claire Danes, Charlie Cox and Robert De Niro in 2007.

Stardust has been adapted for the stage by playwright and Pound Arts director Russ Tunney, who said: “It is a privilege to be entrusted with a story like Stardust. Those that know Neil Gaiman’s work will know how he spins magic and gold with words. For those who don’t, expect to come out of the theatre believing in unicorns, witches, zombie trees and ultimately, love.

“Stardust is one of those special stories, like A Christmas Carol, that thrills you with danger and inspires you with hope at the same time. And if all this sounds like it is only suitable for children, think again. There is so much in the story for adults, humour, and beautiful haunting stories”.

The show is being performed by Hampshire-based Forest Forge Theatre, using a small cast and lots of modern puppetry to bring real magic to the Pound.
