Musicians who play trumpet, French horn, double bass or oboe are needed to join Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s Rusty and Not So Rusty day at the Neeld Hall, Chippenham, on Sunday.
The project is a ground-breaking scheme bringing amateur players together with the BSO, which enables people of all ages and abilities (Grade V and above is recommended) to receive professional coaching. It aims to provide enjoyable learning for amateur musicians in a friendly session.
The day begins at 10am with sectional workshop and then all sections rehearse Sibelius’ Symphony No 2, under the baton of the BSO’s bass trombone player Kevin Smith, before the day ends at 4pm with a free informal concert.
For the Chippenham day, the Rusties need more trumpets, French horns, double basses, and oboes. All players are welcome, but these instruments in particular are in short supply.
