A programme of professional performances, visual art exhibitions and opportunities to take part launched this week in the spring Trowbridge Arts brochure.

The season begins on February 20 with Ministry Of Entertainments, Normal Service Will Be Resumed, set in 1962 when Kennedy and Khruschev were about to collide over Cuba, but the real trouble is brewing thousands of miles away, deep below the surface of Bristol.

This is followed by The Ugly Duckling on February 28, a fabulous show for little ones.

The rest of the season includes Jane Eyre; a new musical about the life of Adge Cutler of Wurzels fame; Peter Knight’s Gigspanner, who sold out at Trowbridge Arts Festival two years ago; Adolf by the fabulous Pip Utton; a stunning professional dance event; Unearthed by exciting new company Folio led by local actress Lizzie Stables, best known for her part in The Inbetweeners; beautiful children’s piece The Boy Who Bit Picasso and much more.

A season of visual art exhibitions has opened with The Pound Open on Tour with over 80 artworks including paintings, drawing, photography and sculpture. This will culminate on February 26 with the People’s Choice winner announced to the artists.

Exhibitions are free of charge and open every day, with evening viewing too. Youth theatre and Street Dance have also begun and welcome new starters.

“We are thrilled to have secured further funding to continue to bring the best of professional touring performance and visual art to Trowbridge,” said Tracy Sullivan, director of Trowbridge Arts.

“If anything tempts you this season, please go online or call and book your tickets, our audiences are growing but need to continue to do so, so we can keep bringing work to Trowbridge and help secure the future of Trowbridge Town Hall for arts, culture and heritage.”

Brochures can be picked up from the Town Hall, Trowbridge Information Centre and arou
