Saturday, November 1, Lone Twin Theatre, University of Bath.

INTERNATIONALLY celebrated performance company Lone Twin Theatre makes its Bath debut at ICIA, University of Bath, on November 1 with its new show, Daniel Hit By A Train.

The company’s artistic directors Gregg Whelan and Gary Winters have worked together for over a decade as the cult performance duo Lone Twin.

Their extraordinary back catalogue includes 12-hour line dances dressed as cowboys, all-day, non-stop daily cycle rides and an attempt to read all 135 chapters of Moby Dick on a North Sea ferry.

In 2006 they launched Lone Twin Theatre to present narrative-based work by a company of five acclaimed performers.

Daniel Hit By A Train tells the stories of 53 people who lost their lives attempting to save the life of another.

It is inspired by the late-19th century Watts Memorial of Heroic Deeds in Postman’s Park in the City of London, where 53 hand-painted plaques record acts of impulsive bravery.

Thomas Simpson died trying to save people from the breaking ice on Highgate Pond. Famed pantomime artiste Sarah Smith died trying to save her colleague from an on-stage fire. Frederick Alfred Croft saved a lunatic woman from suicide at Woolwich Arsenal Station but was himself run over by the train. With a nod to vaudeville, pantomime and the funfair, Daniel Hit By A Train explores its subject matter in signature Lone Twin style, with simplicity, generosity, optimism and humour.

Contact the ICIA box office on 01225 386777 for tickets priced £9 and £7 for concessions.

Daniel Hit By A Train shows on November 1 at 7.30pm at the ICIA, University of Bath, Claverton Down, Bath.
