WHAT good are local plans when they seem to be ignored by developers and planners? Some readers may remember the Hitachi development in North Bradley being given permission, despite it being contrary to the Local Plan.
Developers are now using it as a precedent to push for a petrol filling station on the site opposite, next to the flood relief pond which has become a wildlife haven.
This is still against the Local Plan, but they are suggesting that they have been given the nod that it would be passed.
The site would be almost entirely covered in buildings or asphalt and the landscaping (if it can be called such) is minimal.
Surely we deserve better from our council?
I know we have to deal with a growing population but this field is a nice piece of greenery next to what has become a wildlife refuge and there should be a better setting for the pond.
If any reader wishes to see the details of the plan, the application number is 16/12347/FUL. It can be accessed on Wiltshire Council’s website or by going to County Hall.
