THE answer to the letter last week regarding the cruel pastime of fox hunting.
The reason these people seem to flout the law is because of who they are and who they know. It’s the same old story with farming and our environment and wildlife.
It’s manipulated by the needs and demands of certain vested interest, and all else is ignored, like how year by year less of people’s income is spent on food and more and more on the latest smart phones, TVs, other gadgets, fashion, booze, tobacco and other such must-have items.
All good for GDP but the constant demand for cheaper and cheaper food is the biggest threat to those who produce our food, destroying the family farms which are a vital part of the rural communities, and creating more cruel farming systems depriving farm animals any natural life. Much of our lives are dictated by such interests, not what is good for the overall good.
