AT THE recent full council meeting of Chippenham Town Council, I was delighted to announce that Chippenham had been successful with its Purple Flag interim renewal accreditation.
Once again this highlights a strong community partnership working and the value of working collaboratively and achieving a national recognition of the town’s night-time economy and the safety and wellbeing of visitors and the local community.
Having to be continually reassessed to maintain Purple Flag status ensures that all partners, including both local councils, the police, the Chippenham BID and the street pastors and as well as other key partners continue to look at how we can improve and continue to promote Chippenham and attract new night-time venues to our town centre, as well as making things safe and welcoming.
I was also pleased to hear that Salisbury had achieved its full renewal status of Purple Flag. I hope that this recognition will encourage other communities within Wiltshire to look at working towards and achieving Purple Flag status.
