I KEEP reading in the papers of people with indefinite leave to remain in the UK being deported, despite them having lived and worked here for years, being married to British spouses and having families here.
The latest was a grandmother from Singapore who has been deported, while being treated like a criminal and a Jamaican woman whose husband died – she was sent back to Jamaica despite her family being here.
I am Australian with a British husband and family. I have indefinite leave to remain. I have worked here for many years, paid my taxes and have a UK pension.
Do I have to live in fear of being deported if I go out of the UK for a holiday, or if my husband died would I suddenly be separated from the rest of my family? It seemed to be EU citizens being affected, but it is obviously more extensive and the Home Office is becoming increasingly hardline and heartless on their immigration policy.
