IT’S finally happened: In last week’s six-page Leisure Guide, there was not one mention of any music events. You send your reporters to local pubs and restaurants; make them read books, attend plays (usually in Bath), and watch films, then publish lengthy reports. But there appears to be no effort at all to report on the very lively local music scene. You don’t even “cheat” and just listen to CDs!
It’s not hard to find music events locally, as they’re all... ah, I forgot; you don’t publish a Gig Guide any more., so no one would know where they are!
If (unlike the other favoured activities I’ve mentioned) you’re relying on event organisers sending in articles, then why don’t you say so, in a big ad or special feature? I’m sure local pubs (where many music events take place) would be only too pleased to publicise gigs, if they were encouraged to do so.

The music page now appears once every three weeks in the new-look Leisure Guide in order to offer readers articles on a variety of topics. The gig guide remains as part of our online Leisure coverage, and details can be submitted at www.wiltshiretimes.co.uk/leisure - Editor
