NEXT Thursday, November 2, will mark the exact 100th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, 2.11.1917, which led to the creation of the State of Israel for the Jewish people.
Whilst our Prime Minister will be ‘celebrating’ this, dining with Netanyahu and guests in London, do they not lose their souls if they fail to consider what their ‘triumph’ has cost the Palestinians?
The dispossession of their land used for the building of illegal Israeli settlements: the destruction of their homes, olive groves & water systems: their loss of freedom, their children’s happiness, and their dignity as fellow human beings, all the while being subject to the Israeli Military Occupation. And who can forget the horrific bombardments of Gaza?
Bradford on Avon Friends of Palestine are inviting all people of conscience to write a short letter to their MP, asking that our government use this historic time to reflect honestly on our past and to finally recognise the State of Palestine as the UN and 136 other countries have already done.
Come to the Secret Garden Café, Lamb’s Yard, Bradford on Avon, between 10.30 and 3pm on November 2 to write, dictate or leave letters - help given if requested - which will all be posted to MPs.
