Volunteers needed to save clipping service
PEOPLE using Age Concern Wiltshire's toe nail cutting service are concerned that their regular visits could soon cease.
After two successful years, funding for clinics has come to an end.
The charity is now looking for volunteers to cut toes nails in the established clinics across Wiltshire.
Nationally, nearly one third of older people are unable to cut their own toenails.
Liddy Davidson, director of Age Concern Wiltshire said: "Recruiting new volunteers is now essential if we are to maintain this key service.
"It is frustrating enough that we are unable to take on any more older people but ultimately we may have to close the service."
Volunteers are needed to help cut nails at clinics in Corsham, Trowbridge, Melksham, and Bradford on Avon. If you can help, call (01380) 727767.

Think about the difficulty of this simple act for us then for old people GSX.
As for gross, I suggest you do a stint in an average old peoples home before commenting on the gross levels of cutting toenails.
There are a few more tasks that are unsavoury but must be done by someone I'd imagine...
A lot of good work takes place by underpaid carers in this area.
We will both be old one day. Who will look after us?
Don't just think about tomorrow or yourself when having a say. That would be selfish and narrow minded.

I'm sure the shoe sized IQ of GSX is plain for all to see.
However, please don't tar those of us who choose to ride a bike with the same brush.
If I had time, I'd vol for this, but I already do up to 15 or more hours a week in my spare time for another charity. Blood, guts and vomit included.
I'm not a vindictive person, but there is a very small part of me that wonders what'll happen if a certain person has an accident and ends up having to have his bum wiped for the rest of his natural. Maybe he'll be a tad more sympathetic, instead of just pathetic.
Anyone who signs up for this much needed service deserves credit and perhaps a medal!

OMG!
Let's hope you pop a disk GSX, are unable to bend and your missus (if there is truly a woman dumb enough to be with you) does nothing for you (even to help you get to that train).
After you have lain in your own mess for a week or so and have finished crying perhaps you might find a soul in there somewhere.
Otherwise please don;t wait for the 10:45 and bring any distress to a poor train driver, wrap that bike around a tree. Do a good job too, I don't want my taxes paying to wipe your backside and cut your toenails...

Lol, sensitive soul are you...
You don't think well of anyone who wipes bums or mops up pee, "idiots" you called them. That would leave many vulnerable old folk in a difficult and miserable position, clearly okay with you.
But your life is so precious..... mmmmm
Nice to see a nerve can be touched, some emotion inthere somewhere. turn that anger into some feeling for your fellow elderly and their much underated toenail clippers. It'll make YOU a nicer person.
:)

If you could do everything for yourself then you couldn't have been that immobilised! Paralysed from the neck down instead of the neck up would be immobilised!
My spare time is well used, trust me, and if saving someone's life or making a difference to how they are treated after an accident a couple of times a week makes me an idiot in your book then so be it.
As for getting a life, I think mine is just fine - full to the brim in fact!
Try spending an hour or two with an elderly person now and then - they can be fascinating to talk to with more dignity in their unclipped little toe than some have all over.
