Action from the Under 14s league Cup final between Amesbury Juniors and FC Chippenham (34591/23)

THE closest game of the weekend was saved until last as Amesbury Juniors beat FC Chippenham 1-0 in the Under 14s League Cup final.

Before the kick-off the sides were presented to Melksham Town club secretary Dave Phillips.

The first half saw chances at both ends but it was Amesbury who made one count to take the lead with a goal from James Henry.

A tense second half followed with once again both sides failing to make the most of their chances.

With ten minutes left to play Amesbury were awarded a penalty but a finger tip save by Luke Todd, the Chippenham goalkeeper, denied them a second goal.

Amesbury Juniors were presented with the Tim Kerr Memorial Trophy and Dave Phillips nominated James Henry as man-of-the-match.

Referee Adrian Cripps and assistants Roger Lethaby and Alen Evans had a superb game also.

After the match Dave Phillips was presented with a gift from the league for his outstanding contribution to the league over many years.

Alen Evans was also presented with a trophy for attaining best level six referee marks over the past season.
