FIREFIGHTERS have been called to deal with 24 kitchen fires at homes in north and west Wiltshire over the last three months.
From April to June there were 13 cooking related kitchen fires in north Wiltshire and 11 in west Wiltshire.
Most resulted from carelessness with appliances or people being distracted while cooking.
Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is warning people to take extra care when in the kitchen.
Advice issued includes keeping electrical leads and tea towels away from the cooker and hob, don't use matches or lighters to light gas cookers, do not leave pans on the hob unattended and don't put anything metallic in microwaves.

A risk assessment with a subsequent toolbox meeting must be held prior to commencing work "
