Swarm of bees attack driver

5:45pm Friday 18th July 2008

By Katie Adams »

A SWARM of bees attacked a man driving through Chippenham on Wednesday causing him to plough into a pylon.

Resembling a scene from a horror film, the bees swarmed into his car and stung the man who was driving along Days Lane in Kington Langley at around 2.45pm.

After suffering multiple stings the man, who was from Kington Langley, passed out and collided with the pylon.

Police initially feared the man, who was driving a Mitsubishi Shogun, had suffered severe injuries.

The Bristol Air Ambulance and fire crews from Chippenham were called to the scene.

However, the man, who was conscious when paramedics arrived, was taken to hospital by land ambulance and the road was reopened at around 3.30pm.

Sgt Martin Alvis, of Chippenham police, said: "It was a particularly nasty attack and the driver suffered from a series of bad stings."
