Policeman hurt in gun accident
A POLICEMAN was airlifted to hospital yesterday evening after accidentally shooting himself in the hand.
The firearms officer was cleaning a gun at the end of his tour of duty at police headquarters in Devizes when it went off. The incident happened at 5.23pm.
He was taken to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol where he received treatment to his hand. The injury is not believed to be life threatening.
A police spokesman said: "No one else was injured as a result of this incident. This incident occurred within a sterile safety area on police premises and no members of the public were endangered at any time."
The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

I had a similar thing happen to me at work last week (although it was a stapler rather than a gun). Had to put it in the accident book and everything.
That'll learn me.

The worrying part of this is that he apparently had to be taken about 30 miles to treat a hand-wound. Has everyone finally given up on Bath RUH?

Not sure a fall is quite in the same class is it ??
I seem to recall gun shot wounds can be a bit more serious than a graze. (Could be wrong though)
