AN accident at a barbecue in Chippenham led to fire crews from four towns being called out.

A woman was on a roof terrace of a first floor flat in High Street in the early hours of Sunday, when she fell over and struck her head.

Rope rescue teams from Chippenham and Trowbridge as well as appliances from Chippenham, Corsham and Calne, were called to the incident at about 1.45am.

It was initially feared the woman would have to be winched to the ground to receive medical attention.

Chippenham crew manager Russell Lewns said although rope rescue teams attended they were not needed, as the casualty was taken out on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance.

The victim was taken to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon with suspected spinal injuries.

Crews from four towns called to a fall! If this is the result of the present control-room system, maybe the new policy of fewer, alrger ones is a good idea!

The mention of cheesburgers, belly pork chops and coca-cola going free probably scrambled every fireman this side of Reading.

All unit bulletin!!

Joking aside it sounded a little serious and hope she's OK.

crews from FOUR towns????? surely the 1st lot on the scene could see that was a waste of useful resources or not?
