‘Nasty’ behaviour upsets residents

A FED-UP resident of a housing estate in Bradford on Avon said he can no longer cope after weeks of anti-social behaviour.

Police have received reports of people screaming, shouting and urinating in the streets until 4am over the weekend in the Poulton area, pictured.

A local resident, who asked to remain anonymous for fear of retribution, said: "We don't know what to do any more. The last weekend was dreadful.

"We phoned the police twice and it did go quiet at 2.30am but then it started up again.

"I have had my car damaged. I went out the other day and it had been interfered with and we are just tired of it. It's just not fair."

The concerned resident explained that the raucous behaviour over the last few weeks has affected their family life and they have now reached a point where they are too worried to let their child play out in the garden.

Police have stepped up patrols in the area and are hoping that their long-term strategies will help to bring crime down on the estate.

Sgt Sean Brady of Bradford on Avon police, said: "We are now looking at putting in dispersal orders and directly addressing a couple of families that live there.

"We want to hear comments from people about what's going on there and we want to know who is involved.

"Equally we would like the community as a whole to take some responsibility for the problems."

Rebecca O'Neill, a representative from Selwood Housing, which has many residents living in the affected area, said: "We have been working closely with residents in Poulton, the police and the families concerned to tackle the problems there in the best way possible for everyone involved.

"We have a number of residents logging incidents for us and would encourage anyone suffering anti-social behaviour in Poulton to get in touch with us on 01225 715715. We are hopeful that the problem will be resolved in the coming weeks and months."

Bradford town and county councillor Malcolm Hewson said: "In Bradford we do get our share of occasional anti-social and nasty behaviour and it is sometimes persistent and takes time to find a solution.

"I shall be looking into it with the police, the housing association, and the district council ."

Why should good family citizens have to put up with the difficult few. I suggest we find a housing estate out of the way put all the anti-social low life together and let them see how long it would take before they realise how demoralising anti-social behaviour becomes....

Agreed, but it shouldn't be 'out of the way' as that would mean destroying something worth keeping - how about moving out the decent few, move this lot in and then just building a big wall around Westbury*?

JOKE!!!!!!!

*Add place as you see fit!

Vigilantes? Are you serious?

No!
Don't you dare pass the buck!
Get your arses into the estate, whip out your night sticks and deal out some justice.

YOU TAKE THE RESPONSIBILTY YOU HAVE SWORN TO UPHOLD!

Whats your motto again?

These people are asking for help and support nothing more.

Supply it, no expense spared, no holds barred.

Thats what they/we expect.

yeah, no expense spared would be nice.
It's a shame all the government red tape and budgets don't allow for it.

Same applies for "whipping out night sticks" even metaphorically - lots of bull**** they need to go through.

Same again, applies to putting in a dispersal order - it takes a bit of time to negotiate the red tape, have a look at this link: it's not all relevant, but a lot is - and it's interesting nonetheless:

Ahh the dubious joys of Poulton on summer evenings. That heady mix of cheap plentiful alcohol, low self control, malevolence and a gene pool that Hitler would have been proud of and we have a recipe for, well Poulton. I commiserate with all the good innocent folks down there, and there are plenty of them!

I feel sorry for the few good people of Poulton. It would be nice to see the authorities take their heads out of their Backsides and remove the worst offenders. Instead of still pretending they haven’t quite figured out what is going on. Lets see some proper coppers kicking doors in and dragging them out of bed lunchtimes instead of mincing up and down the street trying hard to look interested. People are looking for help now. We don’t need long-term strategies that don’t work. I would like to see crime rates drop now not in 10 years .

"We want to hear comments from people about what's going on there and we want to know who is involved.

"Equally we would like the community as a whole to take some responsibility for the problems."

These kinds of comments from the town sergeant highlight what little support these poor people are receiving from the police. Perhaps he should deputise some of the residents and organise a posse.

I wonder why we only have a one percent decrease in? crime.

Also see two youths jailed for racial attack on kebab owner, their other favourite visiting place is Poulton which contributes to the anti-social behaviour in this area of an evening.
Everyone has a right to live in harmony don't you think? Unfortunately for them justice was done in this occassion.

Sadly some of the Mums of Poulton are quite brazen in their support for their little thugs, who apparently in any situation can do no bad!
