Super council roadshows planned

WILTSHIRE'S super council, due to come into being next April, is taking to the road to get local people involved in its future.
Wiltshire Council will come into effect in April 2009, when the county's five councils merge.
The move was approved by the Government last year.
Local people are being asked to help shape the new council and four roadshows have been planned so visitors can come up with what the council will mean to them.
A spa day prize is up for grabs, but views could also help shape the way the new council is presented to the public.
County council leader and chair of the implementation excecutive, Cllr Jane Scott, said: "We didn't think it was right to spend council tax payers' money employing a costly ad agency. Instead we want to ask local people about how they would like to see their new council and what they think are the important issues."
The roadshows will be operating between 10am and 2pm.
- Salisbury Market Place - Tuesday September 2
- Trowbridge Fore Street - Wednesday September 3
- Devizes Market Place - Thursday September 4
- Chippenham Town Bridge - Friday September 5

ate on getting this new council system up and running ready to help the vunerable, improve social housing, look after the schools properly....and most importantly cut the 'sound bites' !!!!.....Oh yeh!...almost forgot...get rid of silly job titles such as 'assistant to the deputy assistants deputy BLAH BLAH BLAH.....and get your staff doing a proper days work being proper 'Public Servants'!!!!

This whole debacle has been initiated from central government for the EU without thought from this government for the people they serve.
Another worthless token gesture for what and who exactly?
Not us you morons, this is for all you Unificationists set to make a mint and placed to be set up for life.
What they build CAN be reversed faster than they believe possible.
It just takes the people demanding what they want in force with representation from who ever, its that simple and in these dire times now and ahead, quite feasible.

Although the new council is certain to be largely dominated by Conservatives, overall there is a real chance that the majority of the new council in June 2009 will have been against the idea of a unitary council all along and will not vote to select Jane Scott as Leader.

sticking these roadshows on in the middle of the week and "between 10am and 2pm" is a pretty weak gesture for those folk who work (and pay taxes) for a living.
How about a proper web site with discussion areas? Or is that taking consultation too far???
