Trowbridge Market hall revamp
1:42pm Thursday 25th October 2012 in News
A new phase in the major refurbishment of Castle Place Shopping Centre in Trow-bridge has started.
Legal and General Property, the owner of the centre, is working on improving the market hall portion of the site, including enhancements to the lighting, decor, staircases, disabled facilities and staff areas.
Along with the first stage of the refurbishment scheme, which included the shopping arcade, the firm will spend a total of more than £200,000 on upgrades.
Phase one, which was concluded at the end of last year, included new branding, a deep clean for the exterior and a facelift of the ground floor malls, with new floors, lighting and entrance areas.
Building contractor Emerys of Bath was appointed for both phases of the project and is due to complete the second phase next month, in time for the start of Christmas trading.
Julie Davies, the manager of the Castle Place Shopping Centre, said: “Everyone seems to be getting on board with the refurbishment. “It needed something, because the last time it was done was 13 years ago. “It’s coming along quite nicely. It looks fresher and more modern. “I think it looks much better and brighter.”
The next phase of the project, which will include the public toilets and some back room areas, is due to start next year.
Tim Russell, the senior asset manager at Legal & General Property, said: “Continuing our substantial investment into Trow-bridge’s town centre, we believe that the conclusion of this second phase of works at Castle Place will help to regenerate the scheme, providing a more attractive retail offer for shoppers and visitors, and adding to the vibrancy of the town.”
