St Laurence School is hoping for the same rave reviews received by last weekend’s movie release of Les Miserables when pupils perform their own production next month.

Kate Rowe, head of performing arts at the school, has directed the production since open auditions were held in September.

“We put on a musical every two years, interspersed with a Shakespeare production,” she said.

“Some saw the film at the weekend and we all went to see the theatre production in the West End in December. We are very positive and excited about the production and the children have been really committed and enthusiastic.”

Students from years 7 to 11 have been cast, with other pupils playing in the band, working backstage and dancing. and although tickets are sold out for February 8, there are still tickets available for February 5 and 6 from the school reception.
