Wiltshire bands mix to produce gold

Bratton Silver Band enjoyed another sell-out performance alongside the Cory Brass Band at the Wiltshire Music Centre on Sunday, 10 years after their first performance together.
The performance at the Best of British Brass concert saw both bands play individual sets, before the world famous Cory Band joined Bratton for a massed bands finale.
Bratton Silver Band has 31 members ranging in age from 15 to 75.
The two bands played seven pieces together, including The Gael, Flying Fingers, Honour, Adventures in Brass, Amazing Grace, I Will Follow Him and Excerpts from the Little Russian, returning for an encore with the Radetzky March.
Secretary and principal cornet player for Bratton Lisa Hill said: “The whole thing was absolutely brilliant from the moment we started rehearsing with the Cory Band, until the end of the concert.
“The concert was sold out and people were coming up afterwards to say how much they enjoyed it. The chemistry between the bands is great and I think it really shows in the performance.
“The whole thing was really enjoyable, especially for some of our newer members. We all still get very nervous beforehand, although I’m not sure whether that’s the audience or playing with a world class band.”
