Wiltshire Council discusses voluntary redundancies
7:00pm Sunday 10th February 2013 in News
Wiltshire Council is discussing applications for voluntary redundancy from education department staff following the announcement last month that at least 18 jobs were to be cut.
The move comes as the council expects to lose around £3 million in funding for education when its budget is confirmed in March.
It has made around £2.4m in cuts already but insists job cuts are still necessary.
Staff wanting to apply for voluntary redundancy had until February 1 to make their submissions. Wiltshire Council will now consider the applications and the expertise the department will still require after the cuts.
None of the staff at risk of losing their jobs are teachers but posts in early years, primary, secondary, post-14 and adult education, and administration, are threatened.
