Westbury interior design firm continues to build
Westbury-based interior designer and refurbishment company Richman Design has gone from strength to strength since it was established by Kerry Chapman in 2011.
When the business opened two years ago, managing director and designer Miss Chapman, director and site manager James Rich and six installers and fitters managed the business.
Richman Design now employs 25 people, including Mia Gillespie, who was recently appointed head of sales and marketing.
The company, which is based in Eden Vale Road, also boasts an impressive client list, including its recent appointment by Longleat Estates to refurbish two of its hotels, Bishopstrow House and Homewood Park.
After previously working for Jane Clayton and Von Essen Hotels, Miss Chapman, who has more than 20 years’ experience as an interior designer, decided it was time to go it alone.
Miss Chapman, 42, said: “Before I decided to open my own company I was the head designer for the Von Essen Group, working on the total refurbishment of many hotels in their collection including Mount Somerset Hotel and The Royal Crescent in Bath.
“I had the opportunity to start my own business and decided it was now or never. I was doing the majority of the work for Von Essen anyway, so it seemed the right course of action.
“Obviously in our current financial climate any business venture is a risk, but after two years of trading I am delighted with the new business we are attracting and our ever-growing client base.
“The business has an amazing team and we all work together – this is reflected in the clients’ comments constantly and may it continue.”
The interior design, installation and refurbishment company specialises in everything from residential and commercial properties to hotels and spas.
Richman Design offers a process that starts with a consultation to discuss the client’s ideas, before putting together memory boards to help to bring those ideas to life.
The company works closely with its clients throughout the entire process.
“It’s been an incredible experience so far, especially this year with the newly acquired Longleat Estates hotel collection, which we’ve been working hard on,” said Miss Chapman, who also lives in Westbury.
“We are currently finishing off the dining room at Homewood Park now, which should be completed on February 13.
“I think our character and personalities come through when we are dealing with our clients and that’s what separates us from other interior designers.”
