Mayoress of Warminster Sue Burrow hopes her two handmade embroideries will inspire a bidding war to raise money for Royal British Legion and the research department of the Alzheimer’s Society.
The embroideries, entitled Time and Memory, are Mrs Burrow’s contribution to her partner Cllr Rob Fryer’s Mayor’s Fund and went on display at Warminster Library last week.
The Royal British Legion and the research department of the Alzheimer’s Society are Cllr Fryer’s chosen charities and Mrs Burrow’s latest creations are inspired by the two causes.
Warminster Town Council are organising the sale of the embroideries, with verbal or telephone bids accepted for each one up until the closing date for purchase on April 20.
Mrs Burrow, 59, who works as a primary school supply teacher, said: “I have been doing embroideries since I was in my 20s and wanted to do something for Rob’s chosen charities.
“I used each of the causes as inspiration for the embroideries, with Time for the Royal Brit-ish Legion and Memory for the Alzheimer’s Society.
“They each took about a month to complete and I was delighted with the way they turned out – I hope the new owners will also enjoy them. I have already had a bid of £125 for Time, but the more money they can raise for the charities the better.”
Once the bidding for the embroideries closes on April 20, the highest bids will be combined and then split equally between the two charities.
Anyone interested in placing a bid should contact Warminster Town Council on 01985 214847.
