Opticians give stand-out donation to Trowbridge Cub Scouts

A group of Cub Scouts in Trowbridge will be seen more clearly, thanks to a gift from an opticians.

Specsavers in The Shires donated 30 hi-visibility vests to 1st Trowbridge Ashante Cub Scouts, so they can be spotted in the dark.

The Cubs had been collecting unwanted spectacles as part of a Global Challenge, with pairs sent to people who do not have access to healthcare, via the Mercy Ships charity.

Store director Stephen Auty said: “The work they had been doing to collect unwanted specs was fantastic and is something we also do here at the store, on behalf of Vision Aid Overseas.”

Jenny Gailey, leader at 1st Trowbridge Ashante Cub Scouts, said: “We’re very grateful to Specsavers for the donation. Anything that can help improve the safety of our Scouts is something we welcome.”
