Top tribute act set for charity gig
9:00am Friday 15th March 2013 in News
A top tribute act to The Who will play at the Village Hall in Chapmanslade to raise cash for Oxfam charity campaigner Nick Savva on March 23.
Mr Savva, who lives in Chapmanslade with his wife Kate and children Molly, nine, and Jack, six, will run the London Marathon on behalf of Oxfam in April and decided to arrange a gig to raise more funds for the charity.
He approached his next door neighbour Craig Addecott – the bassist for tribute band Who’s Next – who said the band would be more than happy to take part.
The four-piece, regarded as the premier tribute band to The Who, has toured Europe and the UK since 2003, playing the band’s biggest hits such as Won’t Get Fooled Again and Pinball Wizard.
Mr Savva, who works part-time at Asda, said: “The evening is going to be a great family experience and it’s nice to promote a popular local band. I’ve seen them a few times and they are excellent at what they do.”
The event starts at 7.45pm and there will be a licensed bar and refreshments. Admi-ssion is £6; children under 16 are free with a paying adult.
