People in Bradford on Avon joined in the opening of Bath’s Two Tunnels Greenway with a bike ride to the celebratory festival.

A party of 32 cyclists met at the packhorse bridge and rode along the canal path to Bath, where more joined along the way, to make up a 2,000-strong crowd at Bear Flat.

The two tunnels path, from Bath to Midford, reuses a four-mile stretch of Somerset and Dorset railway line and took seven years to complete.

Richard Craft, a West Wiltshire Sustrans volunteer ranger, who led the ride, said: “The atmosphere was buzzing and we were so impressed by the structure. It is a lovely cycle route.”
