Plans for a new, mixed-use development at Kingston Farm in Bradford on Avon have been submitted to Wiltshire Council.

The site in Holt Road, which has been defined in the Wiltshire Core Strategy, would have a mix of 138 one to five bedroom apartments and houses, including up to a 20 per cent provision of affordable homes.

The development would allow two town businesses to expand and create 300 jobs, as it covers the refurbishment of the Anth-ony Best Dynamics factory, which will be taken over by the Moulton Bicycle Company.

Anthony Best Dynamics would move to a new factory and offices and there would be space for a new work hub for start-ups.

More than 5.5 acres of allotments, woodland and recreation spaces are proposed and the site’s low carbon status was defined by the first phase of the project in 2011, of a 5MW solar farm across 37 acres.

The development would provide community benefits including a safer route for pedestrians and cyclists, £900,000 for the St Laurence, Fitzmaurice and Christ Church schools and £600,000 resolving a storm drain issue affecting the Springfield and New Road areas.

Leaflets on the plans will be available and a public exhibition of proposals will be at the Coach House at the Swan Hotel on May 17, 2-5pm, and on May 18, from 10am-2pm.

If the application is approved, work could start in this winter or spring 2014, with housing delivered between 2015 and 2019.
